Finished Baby quilt!

I have finally finished the Baby quilt I have been making during the past month.
The baby was born on 6th July but the parents didn’t decide on a name until a few days ago. I have now been able to appliqué the name and finished the quilting and binding. Just the embroidered label for the back to do and then it can be posted.

I have been very pleased with my choice of backing ( which I used for the name appliqué band and the binding) and discovered that I have chosen this fabric before, only in a lovely lemon/yellow colour.
I have kept some of the selvedge showing the fabric detail and I think I will buy some more in different colour ways for my stash.

                                                           And here’s the finished quilt.

RSC 2020 July Ticky Tacky Houses

This month’s colour is Dark Blue.
As I use a lot of blue and therefore create a lot of scraps I already have quite a lot of blue blocks made up in other RSC projects so this month I haven’t added to some of those.
However, I have made a few Ticky Tacky Houses with some blues in there. However I did have some other scraps cut in the required sizes so I used those too. These blocks are fun to make and once you have kitted up each they whizz along. Thanks to Cathy (Sane Crazy Crumby Quilting blog) For the idea.
Do take a look at Cathy’s blog to see the finished quilt and for more RSC bock ideas.

New fabric for my stash

I am currently making a baby quilt and needed a yellow fabric for the letters of the baby’s name which will be appliquéd to the front of the quilt. I had very little yellow  in my stash so I looked on the Internet and found a bundle of 5 FQs, two yellow and three lilac prints. Then I decided to top up my brown, red and blue fabrics. I never have many brown or red fabrics in my stash so I ordered a bundle  of 8 brown FQs and bundles of 7 x 10” squares in red and blue. They’re pretty.

A couple of days later I got an email from a Company I like, their fabrics are always the best quality and they had a sale on solids, only £4.99 per metre, a good buy. So I ordered some in 5 colours I know I will use and colours that were depleted in my stash.
During Lockdown I have been making lots of blocks and some quilts so my stash is needing a few new fabrics.

Very pleased with all of my purchases.
